Pengajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris You kno wat? I really didnt know what to expect from Malaysian public. And I didnt get it,why the Malays are so against teaching of these two subjects in English? What's with Ketuanan Melayu getting in the way of Sc n M3 being taught in English? There's no correlation between the two. T correlation?Pearson Coefficient Correlation? ![]() I read an article, written from a teacher's perspective in Cikgu Azleen dot com She highlighted ,the plight of a parent who wanted the subjects to revert back to BM's teaching simply because he/she/they (donno wether both parents or wat) couldnt help their kids with homework. They want their children to be like that too?? Am super glad my parents instilled the love of books since we were small. Starting from BM and simple english for kids book to Shakespeare and A.Samad Said (the old guy was tear gassed just now because he was against the move-Please do not use tear gas,let the people voice their opinion howsoever we wanted, wether we are against or in favor! We claimed our country as a free country, No?) ![]() ![]() Back to the subject , why I am all for the usage of English in Malaysian classroom is because simply I want us Malay to be at the same level with our Chinese and Indian friends. Now they have to study a lot harder to understand rather that the usual lackadaisical attitude toward the language. Some write very well but when ask to speak ,all hells broke loose. Second, when in uni a lot of materials these students are gonna use are written in English. Why must you prolong their meetings with these English textbooks at 19 rather than when they were merely small innocent schoolkids. ![]() And the craziest notion I heard a friend argued with me was,by using Bahasa Inggeris in our classrooms, other races than Malay will not know how to converse in BM.Boohoo my dear friend..Boo! (:p) even now,u can see a lot of them struggling even with BM being the only language taught (except when english, mandarin, tamil, arabic, telugu classes were in session of course). Even after 52 years of independence ,not even the Malays are proficient in Malay anymore. The landscape and time is changing. Malaysia must change too. I for one, also want BM not to disappear from this earth but a year or two back,i heard a painful comments from a minister in very very very very BAD english in al-jazeera so I want all Malaysian kids to speak well in English. Just because the two subjects will be in English, that doesnt mean our language will perish. Please be a little more open-minded and stop dwelling in shallowness. We are no Flintstones. Majulah bangsa untuk negara. Untuk maju terimalah perubahan. I welcome feedbacks . p/s: All images are yahoo-searched. Keris from Zuraisham.
